Can ShyFile encrypt a whole hard drive at once?
Starting from version 6.18, ShyFile will not only allow the user to encrypt multiple binary files, but also encrypt a whole folder (with its subfolders) in a single run. And yes, you may also be able to encrypt a whole hard drive in a single run, but only if you provide your destination volume with sufficient free disk space to save the cipher text in, as well as yourself with a lot of patience; to meet or excceed industry standards ShyFile processes your data in a way that takes quite some time.
In addition, please note that there is also a limitation when it comes to the way you formatted your destination volume. Since ShyFile always packs all the cipher text into a single file, it might become essential to know the maximum file size your volume supports. In the process of encrypting, ShyFile adds roughly 4% junk data to the cipher text, i.e. if the size of all the data you intend to encrypt (whether it be multiple files, folders or a whole hard drive) exceeds 96.something% of the maximum file size your destination volume allows, ShyFile will have to cripple your cipher text.
FAT has a maximum file size of 2 GB.
FAT32 has a maximum file size of 4 GB.
NTFS file size limited only by size of volume.
