I have received through email a self-decrypting HTML-attachment (.hta, .html, .htm, .shtml) and my Internet browser will open but not decode it. What went wrong?

1. Make sure your Internet browser is JavaScript enabled. Run your Internet Explorer and open Tools > Internetoptions and click on the "Advanced"-tab to find that out.

2. Run your Internet Explorer and open Tools > Internetoptions and click on the "Privacy"-tab. At the bottom of this window, check whether the integrated pop-up blocker is turned off.

3. You might have installed a non-Microsoft Pop-Up Blocker into your browser. In this case, turn it off or alternatively find out which key to hit to allow pop-ups temporarily.
